The first unit of this school on East Outer Drive was built in 1921 as the Outer Boulevard Public School and later renamed Van Zile School.

A large addition was built in 1950 with five classrooms, gymnasium, library, auditorium and a large kindergarten at a cost of $535,000, roughly $7 million in 2024, when adjusted for inflation.

The school closed around 2011.
