The “Kappa Kastle,” located at 269 Erskine St. in Detroit’s Brush Park Historic District, was built for Christian Weidemann in 1905. It featured stunning interior decoration by famed designer Louis Keil. The house itself was designed by architect Norval Wardrop.
The home was acquired by the Detroit Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. on Sept. 7, 1944. It was dedicated on April 15, 1945, and has served for more than eight decades as a hub for community engagement, education and civic leadership.
