Rufus Goodell House (223 East Ferry Avenue)

The Goddell House at 223 East Ferry Avenue is a Queen Anne–Romanesque Revival residence designed by Rogers & McFarlane. The two-and-a-half-story, multi-gabled brick-and-brownstone house is distinguished by a three-story round corner tower and a wide front porch supported by Romanesque-style posts. Goddell was a real estate speculator. To the rear is an outstanding matching carriage house, notable for its steeply pitched roof and a two-story, conical-roofed turret projecting through it.
