This mansion located at Grayhaven Canal Detroit and erected in the 1927-28 as the residence for Lawrence P. Fisher (1888–1961), a member of the Fisher Body automobile family, stands out for its unique characteristics.
Designed by the renowned theater architect C. Howard Crane, it blends elements of Spanish Revival, Art Deco and Mediterranean styles ("New Spanish" for simplicity) throughout its exterior and individual rooms.
The cost in 1928 was about $2,000,000, which is equivalent in purchasing power to about $36,000,000 in 2024.
What was once the home of the most flamboyant of the seven Fisher brothers is currently the home of the "Bhaktivedanta Cultural Center of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness".
