This stately Mediterranean-style villa, featuring a Spanish-tiled roof and a charming conservatory, was designed by Richard Marr in 1923 for Irvine Herbert Nie.
Nie, a prominent figure in Detroit and assistant to W. A. Fisher, president of the Fisher Body Corporation, passed away on September 22, 1931, following a sudden heart attack. Originally from Bippus, Indiana, Nie relocated to Detroit from Illinois in 1911. He was one of the longest-serving executives at the Fisher Body Corporation, having joined the company in 1912 as a purchasing agent. At the time of his passing, he oversaw all purchases of interior trim for car bodies.
