Designed by Nettle & Kahn for the Cook Farm Co. The first owner of the house was Charles C. Hinchman.

This is one of three similar houses designed by Nettle & Kahn for the Cook Farm Co., along with 996 Burns and 1022 Seminole.

Charles Hinchman was related to architect Theodore Hinchman of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls.

There is also an almost identical Nettle & Kahn-designed house located at 99 Chandler in Detroit.
