Built in 1870, this still-standing home was originally constructed for Caroline A. Stokes, who purchased the lot that year and had the house built soon after. She lived here with her family for more than two decades. In the 1890s, the property was acquired by George Andrew Lewis, who operated the successful Lewis School for Stammers from the residence.

Later converted into a rooming house, the building underwent various alterations before being saved and fully renovated in the 2000s. Today, it remains a contributing structure in the Brush Park Historic District.
