Built 1916-1917, the Byron F. Everitt House was designed by Frederick J. Winter for Byron F. Everitt and his wife, Donna. Everitt was one of Detroit’s early automobile pioneers and became a major supplier of automobile bodies, producing the first 10,000 Ford bodies. He was also involved in the production of several early automobiles, including the E-M-F, Flanders, Maxwell, and Rickenbacker.

In 1919, the Everitts sold the house to Clayton A. Grinnell, of the Grinnell Brothers music family. The two-and-a-half-story masonry residence features a symmetrical façade, projecting pavilions topped by Flemish gables, and a porte-cochère on the west elevation. It remains within the Arden Park–East Boston Historic District.
