The Arthur M. Buhl House at 1116 Iroquois Street is one of the distinguished residences within Detroit’s historic Indian Village neighborhood. Designed by the prominent Detroit architectural firm John Scott & Co., the home was completed in 1908 during the rise of Indian Village as one of the city’s premier residential enclaves.
Arthur M. Buhl was a member of the influential Buhl family whose business and industrial interests helped shape Detroit’s early growth. He served as president of Buhl Sons Co., Buhl Land, and the Buhl Malleable Company, while holding the position of vice president at Detroit Copper & Brass Rolling Mills Co.. He was also a director for numerous firms, including Parke-Davis and Detroit Savings Bank. He was also instrumental in the family interests associated with the Buhl Building in downtown Detroit, which was a major financial center.
