The E. S. Reid House, located at 740 Virginia Park Street, was designed by the prominent Detroit architectural firm Smith, Hinchman & Grylls and completed in 1914. The house is part of the historic Virginia Park neighborhood, one of Detroit's notable early 20th-century residential districts. The property contributes to the architectural significance of the Virginia Park Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1982.
