Arthur DesRosiers (July 7, 1890 - March 21, 1966)

Architect Arthur DesRosiers was born July 7, 1890, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Among his many church designs, St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church (1936) in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is widely considered his best work. His other churches include Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1929) in Dearborn, Mich.; St. Alphonsus-St. Clement Catholic Church (1929) in Dearborn; St. Raymond's Catholic Church (1957) at Joann and Bringard; Temple Baptist Church (1954), 10100 Grand River Ave.; St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (1936), 8900 Raymond; and St. Jude Catholic Church (1956) at 7 Mile and Moross. He also served as architectural engineer on the University of Detroit's stadium at Six Mile Road near Livernois Avenue.

He died March 21, 1966, at age 75, and was interred in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in suburban Southfield, Mich.

His son Louis DesRosiers followed in his footsteps, and the firm continues today as DesRosiers Architects in suburban Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
