Albert Wood was an architect retained by Ford Motor Co. and Henry Ford for a number of projects.
He most famously designed Henry Ford Hospital, which was funded by its namesake. He also designed the Ford Dearborn housing project and worked on a number of other projects, including Ford’s Fair Lane Estate and plants in Ireland, England and Hamilton, Ohio.
After leaving Ford Motor, he would design hospitals and institutional projects across the Midwest. He later moved to Port Washington, N.Y., during the Great Depression and established Albert Wood & Five Sons, which offered design and architectural services.
